Our Upscale Attic Sale is coming soon and we need your help!

The Museum is in the process of collecting a diverse array of gently-used goods to be sold in garage-sale fashion at our November 2010 Upscale Attic Sale. Fabulous antiques, fine furniture, gorgeous rugs as well as home décor and accessories in every imaginable shape, color and size are being inventoried and we are collecting more. Please remember the Museum as you clean out before the holidays. You’ll get a tax write-off and we’ll even come and pick up your used treasures! It can’t get any easier than that!

Mark the date now! Boogaloo will be April 16, 2011

The best annual party in Southwest Louisiana — Boogaloo, the major fundraiser for the Imperial Calcasieu Museum — has set the date and location for the 2011 edition.

Next year's event will be April 16, 2011, in the Contraband Room of the Lake Charles Civic Center, according to Susan Reed, the Museum's Executive Director.

The featured performer once again will be the "Super T" Tyrone Smith Revue, an acclaimed party band which played at the White House for President George W. Bush. The band's playlist ranges from funk to dance-party standards. Super T is back by popular demand after rocking the house at this year's Boogaloo.

Mark your calendars now so you're sure not to miss this huge annual event!

May we suggest: A museum membership

Please consider becoming a Imperial Calcasieu Museum member. It's a fun, educational and worthwhile investment in our community. Better yet, consider giving a museum membership to someone special this holiday season.

Your support of the ICM through a membership allows us to:

  • Provide admission-free guided tours to more than 3,900 school children annually in grades 4-6. More than 50 percent of these children are from low-income schools who might not have the opportunity otherwise to visit a museum and receive the educational benefit without your support.
  • Produce 7,000 curriculum guides and workbooks for educators and students. These educational materials enable teachers to prepare students before they visit our exhibits, and the student books and activities ensure that the learning opportunity follows from the museum back to our schools.
  • Self-produce first class exhibits that would rival those of any museum in the state. Funds for printing, exhibit preparation, research and installation supplies are all spent with local providers, keeping dollars in our community and supporting our local economy.
  • Operate more than 300 days a year, with 161 days of special event programming, such as exhibits, tours, the annual children's Summer Arts Camp, the annual Summer Film & Lecture Series and receptions for out-of-town guests, travel writers and tour groups.

Boogaloo date for 2011 announced

"Boogaloo," the area's favorite annual party, will take place April 16, 2011. It's the Museum's major annual fundraiser, and it's an event not to be missed!
